WHY A RETAINER?

A lingual retainer - a thin wire on the inside of the teeth - is the most reliable way to secure treatment results permanently

As a precisely controlled orthodontic treatment, Invisalign® moves your teeth into their ideal position in the jawbone - while applying tension to the connective tissue of the tooth-supporting apparatus.

Have the desired tooth positions in the front teeth been achieved? Has the gap between the incisors or crowding in the front teeth disappeared? Bravo! - but as soon as appliances such as aligners are removed, there is a risk of the teeth shifting back toward their original position (relapse). As an innovative retainer, digitally planned and manufactured using CAD technology, our Memotain® retainer prevents your teeth from moving back. Its special material makes Memotain® truly unique: this barely noticeable precision retainer is made from fine Nitinol and fits perfectly against the teeth.

How does Memotain® work in practice?

NOTICEABLY DIFFERENT

An example: to correct the misalignment of your crooked incisors in the front section of your mouth, you received Invisalign® aligners from us. Just one year later, you can enjoy straight teeth!

To make sure it stays that way, we now create your individual Memotain® retainer. We take a scan, which forms the basis. Then the time comes: your retainer arrives, positioned on a model of your teeth. After thorough tooth cleaning, we transfer your Memotain® precisely into your mouth using a special transfer cap. Simple and quick, because CAD/CAM retainers fit perfectly from the start, as they are placed exactly where the computer has calculated. Finally, we attach your retainer to the tooth point by point using composite adhesive. Then it is briefly cured under UV light - done!

Memotain® feels smooth, comfortable and barely noticeable. Brushing your teeth is easier, too: unlike conventional steel retainers, where oral hygiene first has to be learned, your thin, micro-bonded Memotain retainer is easy to clean.

MEMOTAIN RETAINERS ARE DIFFERENT

THE DIFFERENCE

Removable retainers often end up in a drawer. This puts the long-term treatment result at risk. And anyone who chooses a conventional lingual retainer soon discovers: the retainer wire first has to be manually bent and adapted to the contours of the lingual surfaces, so that it can ultimately sit without tension. A time-consuming procedure with a risk of breakage.

Memotain is different: its material, only 0.4 x 0.4 mm thick, is "pseudoelastic". Once in place, it can no longer be bent, but still supports the tooth’s natural mobility, function and health - without gum irritation or bite problems. A CAD/CAM retainer without unpleasant silicone impressions beforehand, because here iTero®, a scanner for digital dental impressions, provides the data for manufacturing the finely tuned retainer. At the same time, the Memotain material Nitinol allows even the finest contours to be designed. Even the smallest structures are reproduced - for a perfect fit and pleasant wearing comfort.
